Team news: Good back in the fold

Written by Rory Mitchinson

Curtis Good makes his first Newcastle appearance since the 2013/14 campaign as the Magpies take on Oxford United in the Fourth Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

After an injury-ravaged spell, the defender lines up alongside Grant Hanley – skipper for the day – in the heart of the visitors’ backline.

Two other youngsters – Dan Barlaser and Yasin Ben El-Mhanni – also start at the Kassam Stadium, the pair having both made their debuts in the Magpies’ 3-1 win over Birmingham City in the Third Round.

Elsewhere, Matz Sels replaces Karl Darlow between the sticks, while Jesus Gamez and Aleksandar Mitrovic return after lay-offs.

Of those who started last week’s 4-0 Sky Bet Championship win over Rotherham United, only Isaac Hayden and Ayoze Perez keep their place.

A strong-looking bench includes goalkeeper Rob Elliot, who has yet to play for Newcastle this season.

Newcastle United: Matz Sels, Jesus Gamez, Grant Hanley, Curtis Good, Massadio Haidara, Isaac Hayden, Dan Barlaser, Achraf Lazaar, Ayoze Perez, Yasin Ben El-Mhanni, Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, Jamaal Lascelles, DeAndre Yedlin, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, Yoan Gouffran.
