Written by Dan King

Dwight Gayle starts for Newcastle against SC Braga tonight.

He will spearhead Newcastle's attack, with Ayoze Pérez playing just behind him.

Christian Atsu and Matt Ritchie are on the flanks with Isaac Hayden partnering Mohamed Diamé in midfield. Jonjo Shelvey will sit the game out with minor thigh strain but will join BBC Newcastle's Matthew Raisbeck on co-commentary for NUFC TV's coverage of the game.

DeAndre Yedlin, Ciaran Clark, skipper Jamaal Lascelles and Paul Dummett make up the back line, with Martin Dúbravka in goal.

On the bench are goalkeepers Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot and outfield players Javier Manquillo, Jamie Sterry, Fabian Schär, Josef Yarney, Ki Sung-yueng, Víctor Fernández, Sean Longstaff, Jacob Murphy, Callum Roberts, Adam Armstrong and Joselu
