Team news: Five changes as United take on Brentford

Eddie Howe has made five changes to his starting XI for Newcastle United's Premier League clash with Brentford (kick-off 17:30 BST).

Sven Botman, Sean Longstaff, Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes and Elliot Anderson come in, replacing Matt Targett, Sandro Tonali, Joelinton, Miguel Almirón and Alexander Isak.

Botman had missed the defeat to Brighton through injury while Wilson scored after coming off the bench at the Amex Stadium and signed a one-year contract extension with the club this week.

Tonali missed Italy's win over Ukraine on Tuesday due to injury, although he is on the bench for United against the Bees. Joelinton represented Brazil in the international break and has played in all of the Magpies' games so far this term, but misses out through injury.

Nick Pope starts in goal while Kieran Trippier is at right-back and captains the team. Dan Burn reverts to left-back as Botman resumes his central defensive partnership with Fabian Schär

Longstaff and Anderson join Bruno Guimarães in midfield while Barnes and Anthony Gordon will support main striker Wilson.

The substitutes are Almirón, Isak, Targett, Tonali, Jamaal Lascelles, Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall and Jacob Murphy, with Martin Dúbravka the back-up goalkeeper.
