Team news: Dummett returns

Written by Rory Mitchinson

Paul Dummett is back in the Newcastle United line-up as the Magpies take on Brighton & Hove Albion at St. James’ Park this afternoon.

The left back sat out Rafa Benítez’s side’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United a fortnight ago, but takes up his usual position for the Seagulls’ visit, replacing Javier Manquillo.

Otherwise, United are unchanged from the side who lost so agonisingly to the Red Devils.

Dummett joins Federico Fernández, Jamaal Lascelles and DeAndre Yedlin in the backline, with Martin Dúbravka in goal.

Mohamed Diamé partners Jonjo Shelvey in the centre of midfield, with Kenedy and Matt Ritchie deployed out wide.

Ayoze Pérez starts in the No. 10 role, while there is a first start at St. James’ Park for Yoshinori Muto, who opened his account for Newcastle at Old Trafford.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka, DeAndre Yedlin, Federico Fernández, Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett, Matt Ritchie, Mohamed Diamé, Jonjo Shelvey, Kenedy, Ayoze Pérez, Yoshinori Muto.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schär, Isaac Hayden, Jacob Murphy, Christian Atsu, Joselu.
