Team news: Colback returns

Written by Rory Mitchinson

Jack Colback makes his first start in almost a month as Newcastle United take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Colback has sat out the Magpies’ last four games in all competitions, but returns to partner Jonjo Shelvey in the middle of the park.

Elsewhere, Jamaal Lascelles – a substitute against Derby County at St. James’ Park last week – reclaims his place in the starting XI, with Grant Hanley dropping to the bench.

Otherwise, Newcastle are unchanged from the side who saw off Steve McClaren’s Rams.

Among United’s substitutes is Christian Atsu, who could figure for the first time since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Rob Elliot – awaiting his first appearance of the season – is another of the seven players named in reserve.

Newcastle United: Karl Darlow, DeAndre Yedlin, Ciaran Clark, Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett, Jack Colback, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, Mohamed Diame, Yoan Gouffran, Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Grant Hanley, Jesus Gamez, Isaac Hayden, Christian Atsu, Ayoze Perez, Daryl Murphy.
