Team news: Captain returns for Liverpool clash

Rafa Benítez has made two changes to the Newcastle United line-up for Saturday night’s game against Liverpool, with Jamaal Lascelles and Ki Sung-yueng returning to the starting 11.

The Magpies host the title-chasing Reds in their last home game of the season at St. James’ Park (7.45pm kick-off), and captain Lascelles – who is fit again following illness – and Ki – who was on the bench at Brighton last weekend – both return in place of Federico Fernández and Jonjo Shelvey.

Martin Dúbravka continues in goal, with Javier Manquillo and Matt Ritchie flanking a central defensive trio of Fabian Schär, Lascelles and Paul Dummett.

Ki partners Isaac Hayden in midfield, while Ayoze Pérez and Christian Atsu provide support for Salomón Rondón in attack.

Karl Darlow, Antonio Barreca and Fernández are named on the bench, while Mo Diamé and Shelvey provide further options in midfield.

Kenedy and Yoshinori Muto complete the list of substitutes available to Benítez for what is a vital game for his former club.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka; Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schär, Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett, Matt Ritchie; Isaac Hayden, Ki Sung-yueng; Ayoze Pérez, Christian Atsu; Salomón Rondón.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Antonio Barreca, Federico Fernández, Mo Diamé, Jonjo Shelvey, Kenedy, Yoshinori Muto.
