Team news: Almirón starts in Spain

Written by Dan King

New signings Miguel Almirón and Antonio Barreca make their first starts for Newcastle United in the Magpies' friendly against CSKA Moscow at the Pinatar Arena (kick-off 11am GMT).

The January signings have each made one substitute appearance in the Premier League but are named in Rafa Benítez's starting XI after a week of training with their new team mates in Spain.

Jonjo Shelvey and Ciaran Clark are not involved, but every other player is likely to get some game time against the Russian side.

Karl Darlow starts in goal, with Barreca joined in defence by DeAndre Yedlin, Fabian Schär, skipper Jamaal Lascelles and Florian Lejeune.

Fit-again duo Mohamed Diamé and Ki Sung-yueng are in midfield, along with Kenedy, while Almirón is set to play behind main striker Salomón Rondón, who spent time in Russia with Rubin Kazan and Zenit Saint Petersburg.
