Taylor to take charge of Forest clash

Anthony Taylor will referee Newcastle United's Premier League game at Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.

Saturday 10th February
Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle United
City Ground
Kick-off 5:30pm GMT

The game at the City Ground sees the Magpies go in search of revenge after Nuno Espirito Santo's side inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Eddie Howe's side in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day, with Taylor appointed to oversee proceedings this weekend.

It will be just third match involving United that the 45-year-old has refereed this term, with the Wythenshawe-born official having taken charge of their Premier League encounters at Wolves in October - a 2-2 draw in which five players, including Kieran Trippier, Jamaal Lascelles, Dan Burn and Sean Longstaff, were booked - and the Magpies' 4-2 defeat at Liverpool on New Year's Day, where he brandished eight yellow cards. Five of those were given to Newcastle players, with Martin Dúbravka, Longstaff, Lewis Miley, Bruno Guimarães and Joelinton all being cautioned at Anfield.

Taylor is one of the most prominent referees in the European game, having been a FIFA-listed official for over a decade. He was the man in the middle for last season's UEFA Europa League final, as well having taken charge of a League Cup final, FA Cup final, Nations League final and games at the 2020 European Championships and 2022 World Cup finals.
