Sørensen completes Esbjerg move

Newcastle United can confirm that forward Elias Sørensen has completed a permanent transfer to Esbjerg fB.

The 21-year-old has made the move to the NordicBet Liga outfit prior to the start of the 2021/22 season, having spent five years at St. James' Park.

Danish frontman Sørensen joined the Magpies from HB Køge in his homeland in 2016, initially linking up with United's under-18 side.

He progressed to the under-23s, enjoying a prolific campaign in 2018/19 with 20 goals in 26 outings before joining Blackpool on loan.

Sørensen - who made his first team debut for United in a pre-season fixture against West Ham in China in 2019 - also spent time on loan at Carlisle United and Almere City in recent seasons, and has featured for Denmark's under-19 and under-21 sides during his time on Tyneside.

He will now link up with Peter Hyballa's men, who finished third in the Danish second tier last term, ahead of the start of the new league season later this month.

The club wishes Elias well for the future.
