Robinson's the ref against the R's

Written by Dan King

Tim Robinson will be the referee when Newcastle entertain QPR on Wednesday night.

The West Sussex-based official was appointed to the Football League list at the start of the 2012/13 season. He was the fourth official for the League Two play-off final between AFC Wimbledon and Plymouth Argyle at Wembley in May 2016.

His only previous fixture involving Newcastle United was the Magpies' 2-0 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in September, when Vurnon Anita was sent off late on.

Including that match, Robinson has refereed 25 games in all competitions so far this season, showing 118 yellow cards and seven red.

On Wednesday, he will be assisted by David Avent and Christopher Akers, with Peter Bankes the fourth official.
