Referee revealed for Cherries trip

Written by Dan King

Roger East will be the referee when Newcastle United travel to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday (kick-off 3pm UK time).

It will be the first time the Wiltshire-based official has taken charge of a match involving the Magpies this season, but he officiated two Newcastle fixtures last term: the away wins at Rotherham and Huddersfield.

He's been on the national list of referees since 2006 and refereed his first Premier League game in 2012. East became a member of the Select Group of Premier League referees for the 2013/14 campaign.

So far this season, he has been the man in the middle on 21 occasions across the Premier League, Championship, League One and Emirates FA Cup, and shown 71 yellow cards. He has also flashed two red cards.

On Saturday, he will be assisted by Simon Beck and Sian Massey-Ellis. James Linington will be the fourth official.
