Punters eye top-half finish ahead of Canaries clash

A top-half finish in the Premier League is now in sight for Newcastle United as they make the trip to bottom-of-the-table Norwich on Saturday in search of a fourth successive win.

History is on the Magpies' side as they have got the better of the head-to-heads between the two sides this century with six wins and six draws in 16 meetings, but recent form will be the cause for most optimism ahead of the trip to Carrow Road.

When ten-man Newcastle drew with Norwich at home in November they were propping up the table, but a run of nine wins and two draws in 14 league matches since the turn of the year means Eddie Howe's men are now level on points with Brighton in tenth with just five fixtures left on their schedule.

It's of little surprise therefore that Newcastle are hot favourites in the betting at 21/20 to continue their run of form with a victory in Saturday's 3pm (BST) kick-off.

Bruno Guimaraes is becoming ever more popular in the goalscoring markets and he is being well backed this week to add to the two goals and the assist he registered in victories over Leicester and Crystal Palace. The Brazilian is now 6/1 to score the first goal of the game, meaning only striker Chris Wood (11/2) is ahead of him among the visiting contingent as a more likely candidate to open the scoring.

All three victories in April have come by a one-goal margin and that trend is 11/4 to continue, while all three previous victories against the Canaries have featured both teams scoring, so the Newcastle to win and both teams to score option is also proving popular at 3/1.

With the trends pointing to a narrow victory on the road, a Newcastle win by either 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 has now been enhanced to 5/2 from 2/1, one of a host of price boosts now live on the BoyleSports app.
