Premier League Cup group stage draw made

Newcastle United Under-23s will take on Southampton, Leeds United, and either Newport County or Notts County in the group stage of the Premier League Cup.
The final place in Group H will be decided a week on Wednesday, when the latter pair meet one another in South Wales.
The Magpies have made it to the last eight of the competition two seasons on the trot, losing at home to Reading two years ago before suffering a similar fate against Sheffield United last time out.
Only one of the Under-23s’ Group H opponents, Southampton – winners of the competition four years ago – ply their trade at the same level of the pyramid, in the Premier League 2 Division Two.
United will play each side home and away as they look to progress to the last 16. Fixture dates will be confirmed in due course.
