Premier League Cup date set for young Magpies

Newcastle United Under-23s will face their Reading counterparts on Friday, 15th March (kick-off 1pm GMT) in the Premier League Cup round of 16.

The cup tie against the Royals will take place at Kingfield Stadium, home of National League South outfit Woking FC, as United aim to reach the quarter-finals of the competition for the second consecutive season.

The young Magpies sealed their place in the knockout stages by progressing from Group H, where they faced Leeds United, Southampton and Notts County.

Ben Dawson's side tasted success against Reading's youngsters last month, claiming a 2-0 win at Wycombe Wanderers' Adams Park in Premier League 2 in their bid for promotion to Division One.
