No away fans for Harrogate friendly

Harrogate Town have confirmed that their pre-season friendly against Newcastle United this month will be open to home fans only.

United head to the EnviroVent Stadium for a 2pm kick-off on Sunday, 18th July – the same day they take on York City at their new LNER Community Stadium, with head coach Steve Bruce set to split his squad for the fixtures.

But due to Covid-19 regulations and a reduced capacity at the League Two side’s ground, Town have announced that areas usually reserved for away supporters currently fall within the 'red zone' so there will be no away ticket allocation.

That means no Magpies supporters will be permitted to attend either the Harrogate or York fixtures this month, with ticket details for United’s other pre-season friendlies set to be announced on nufc.co.uk in due course.

But Town are set to provide a live stream of the match, while York have also confirmed their intention to stream the game on their official YouTube channel, with donations encouraged via a ‘virtual turnstile’ – meaning Newcastle supporters will be able to watch Bruce’s side’s first outings of 2021/22 from home.
