Nick Pope wins FUN88 Player of the Month award
Nick Pope is the FUN88 Player of the Month for August.
The England international goalkeeper has enjoyed a superb start to life following his summer arrival from Burnley.
He played in all five league games as the Magpies began the season in encouraging style, keeping a clean sheet on his debut in the opening day win against Nottingham Forest.
Pope then somewhat bizarrely trended worldwide on Twitter before keeping another clean sheet at Brighton in his second appearance.
And although he conceded three times against champions Manchester City, big saves in each half earned the Magpies a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw at St. James' Park.
Further solid displays against Wolves and Liverpool earned him top spot in the voting and the Soham-born shot-stopper told nufc.co.uk: "It means a lot for me to be recognised by the fans in my first month here and I really appreciate the support that I've been given in every game.
"I'm really pleased to receive the award. The stand-out moment in my first month has definitely been making my debut at St. James' Park."
