Newcastle United's Carabao Cup fourth round clash at Newport County will be shown live on Sky Sports.

The game will be played at Rodney Parade on Wednesday 30th September with a 5.30pm (BST) kick-off. As with all second, third and fourth round ties in the competition, it will be played behind closed doors.

Sky Sports will show the match, meaning that it will be not be available to stream on the Carabao Cup official live streaming platform. Due to competition rules, the usual free live audio commentary on NUFC TV will not be available for this game but the club are permitted to broadcast commentary at a cost of £2.

Newport, managed by former Darlington midfielder Michael Flynn, have reached the fourth round of the competition for the first time in their history. They beat Cambridge 1-0 in the first round and Swansea City 2-0 in the second, before knocking out Watford in the third round with a 3-1 victory.

Newcastle recorded their biggest ever League Cup win in the third round as they beat Morecambe 7-0 on Wednesday night, having edged past Blackburn with a 1-0 victory in the second round.

United's only previous cup meeting with Newport was in the FA Cup in 1921/22. United were 6-0 winners in a first round tie at St. James' Park.

The Magpies also claimed their record win - 13-0 - against the Welsh club in October 1946, but County won the last of the three previous meetings between the two clubs, a 4-2 victory in June 1947.

A place in the quarter-finals is the prize for the winners of next week's tie.
