New arrivals hoping to make their mark

A host of new arrivals on both sides will be hoping to make their mark as Newcastle United resume their Premier League campaign at home to Everton on Tuesday.

Deadline day signings Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli are in contention for debuts for the visitors, while Newcastle's options are boosted further by new recruits Dan Burn, Matt Targett and Bruno Guimarães

The Magpies will be hoping to pick up where they left off as they went into the winter break on a three-match unbeaten run, ending with a 1-0 victory away at Leeds which took Eddie Howe's men to within a point of safety with a game in hand over Norwich in 17th.

The Toffees meanwhile have lost their last three league games by a one-goal margin as new boss Frank Lampard seeks to boost their league position off the back of a 4-1 FA Cup victory over Brentford.

The recent history in the fixture makes positive reading for the Toon Army faithful as Newcastle are unbeaten in three against Tuesday's opponents, winning the last two, and it's also a match-up which promises goals as at least two have been scored in each of the last six meetings between the pair.

With the home crowd behind them, Newcastle are marginal favourites to record a second successive victory at 8/5, while the chances of a home win and at least two goals in the match is an 11/5 shot in the latest betting with BoyleSports.

Striker Chris Wood was on the scoresheet from the penalty spot for New Zealand during the break and he is an 11/2 shot to be the first goalscorer, while debut goals at any time for Guimarães and Targett are rated at 7/1 and 12/1 respectively.

Burn, meanwhile, scored one of his two Premier League goals just last month in a 3-2 victory for Brighton over Everton and he is available at 11/1 to find the net should he be given the green light for his St. James' Park bow.
