The 43-year-old has been appointed for the clash in the capital, which will be his ninth outing of the season so far. He has officiated in a variety of competitions already, including the Premier League, the Champions League, the UEFA Nations League and the Europa Conference League. Pawson also took charge of the Community Shield clash between Liverpool and Manchester City in July.

The Sheffield official has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2015, enabling him to oversee games in international and European competition. Prior to that, Pawson - who became a regular in the EFL a decade ago - worked his way up through the English game's professional ranks before stepping up to the top flight in 2013.

He has a number of finals on his CV, too, having refereed the 2012 League Two play-off final, the 2018 Carabao Cup final and this year's FA Cup final, all at Wembley, in addition to two Community Shield outings.
