Match officials confirmed for Watford clash

Written by Dan King

Craig Pawson will be the referee when Newcastle take on Watford on Saturday (kick-off 3pm GMT).

The South Yorkshire-based official has already taken charge of one game involving the Magpies this season; he was the man in the middle when United drew 0-0 at Cardiff in August.

That day, he sent Isaac Hayden off as well as showing four yellow cards - two to each side. He also awarded a penalty to Newcastle, which was saved by Bluebirds goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

In total this season, Pawson has refereed ten games and shown 42 yellow cards and three red.

His first Premier League game was between Swansea City and Newcastle at the Liberty Stadium in March 2013. He was appointed to the FIFA International Referees List in 2015.

Pawson last refereed at St. James' Park in last season's 1-0 win over Manchester United in February.

On Saturday, he will be assisted by Lee Betts and Ian Hussin. The fourth official will be Anthony Taylor.
