Match officials confirmed for Bees visit

Craig Pawson will referee Newcastle United's Premier League game against Brentford on Saturday evening.

Saturday 16th September
Newcastle United vs Brentford
St. James' Park
Kick-off 5:30pm
Ticket details

The Magpies return to domestic action following the international break with the Bees the visitors to Tyneside, and Pawson has been appointed for the fixture, which will be just his fourth outing of the season.

Along with two Premier League games (Burnley's 3-0 opening day defeat to Manchester City and Everton's 1-0 loss to Wolves) he has taken charge of one Champions League match - Maccabi Haifa's 3-1 win at home to Slovan Bratislava.

The 44-year-old, who has been a top flight referee for a decade, made his Premier League bow in a match involving United. That came in March 2013, when he oversaw the Magpies' 1-0 away defeat at the hands of Swansea City.

Since 2015, Sheffield official Pawson has been a FIFA-listed official, allowing him to take charge of matches in European competition as well as international fixtures.

Last term, he refereed 39 games in all competitions, including four Newcastle matches - the draws with Bournemouth and Manchester United prior to Christmas, and the stalemate at Crystal Palace and the 5-1 win at West Ham in the second half of the campaign.
