Marriner in the middle for Foxes fixture

Andre Marriner will referee Newcastle United's final home game of the 2022/23 season against Leicester City on Monday.

Monday 22nd May
Newcastle United vs Leicester City
St. James' Park
Kick-off 8pm BST
Ticket details

The game against the Foxes will mark Marriner's first visit to St. James' Park this term, though he has taken charge of two United games so far this term.

The first came at Anfield back in August, when Alexander Isak netted his first Newcastle goal and saw another disallowed for offside before a Liverpool fightback culminated in Fabio Carvalho netting a controversial 98th-minute winner. The Birmingham-born official issued just two yellow cards that day, to Kieran Trippier and Jamaal Lascelles.

His other appointment involving Eddie Howe's side came just last month as the Magpies thrashed Everton 4-1 at Goodison Park thanks to a brace from Callum Wilson and strikes from Joelinton and Jacob Murphy. On that occasion only Matt Targett saw yellow for the visitors, with Amadou Onana and Neal Maupay going in the book for the hosts.

Marriner, a FIFA-listed referee for eight years between 2009 and 2017, has overseen games in the Premier League, Championship, Carabao Cup and FA Cup so far this term.
