Magpies return for pre-season training
Newcastle United's first team players have returned for the first day of pre-season training.
While those who have been on international duty - including Miguel Almíron, Fabian Schär, Martin Dúbravka and Christian Atsu - remain on an extended break, the rest of the squad are back in Benton to begin preparations for the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.
Thursday will see the players undergoing testing with the club's medical team before fitness work commences out on the training pitches over the next few days.
With the process of appointing a new manager ongoing, Academy head of coaching Ben Dawson and Under-23s head coach Neil Redfearn will be overseeing first team training.
The Magpies travel to China next Saturday to take part in the Premier League Asia Trophy, where they will initially face Wolves in Nanjing on Wednesday, 17th July.
