Magpies or Oxford drawn away to West Bromwich Albion in FA Cup fifth round

Written by Dan King

Newcastle United or Oxford United will travel to West Bromwich Albion in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The Baggies - currently top of the Sky Bet Championship - beat Premier League West Ham United on Saturday while the Magpies and Oxford drew 0-0 at St. James' Park and will face each other again a replay at the Kassam Stadium next week.

Newcastle have met West Brom four times in the FA Cup, losing three of them - most recently a 4-2 loss in the 2009/10 season.

However on the one occasion that United prevailed - a 3-0 fifth round win at the Hawthorns, having required replays to get past two lower division sides in Hendon and Scunthorpe - Newcastle went on to reach the final.

All fifth round ties are scheduled to be played in midweek during the week beginning Monday, 2nd March, with no replays. Should the scores be level after 90 minutes, extra time and, if necessary, penalties will be used to determine which side progresses to the last eight.

The date and ticket details for next week's replay at Oxford will be confirmed very soon.
