Magpies host 1,000 fans at supporter engagement event

Newcastle United brought 1,000 fans together with club representatives including CEO Darren Eales and head coach Eddie Howe at a special supporter engagement event at St. James' Park on Wednesday evening.

Held in the stadium's Moncur Suite and hosted by broadcaster and commentator Matthew Raisbeck, the event was convened to introduce the club's soon-to-be-launched 'Fan Advisory Board' concept and was subject to thousands of fan applications.

Following a ballot, 200 fans were welcomed in person alongside representatives from established supporter groups, while 800 supporters from around the world participated online using the innovative Jugo platform.

Fans were able to submit questions for two special guest panels - the first starring men's and women's head coaches Eddie Howe and Becky Langley alongside former striker and current loan manager Shola Ameobi, and the second featuring CEO Darren Eales, sporting director Dan Ashworth and chief commercial officer Peter Silverstone.

Topics included sporting matters, ticketing, memberships and St. James' Park, with the club also confirming the launch of an upcoming fan survey that will form part of a feasibility study looking at future options to enhance the stadium and matchday experience.

Darren Eales said: "Supporter engagement is a hugely important part of what we do at Newcastle United so it was a pleasure to join so many people at St. James' Park to discuss the club we are all so passionate about.

"In addition to taking questions from fans, it was a great opportunity to introduce our new Fan Advisory Board, which will be a conduit for meaningful, long-term consultation between the club and supporters on a consistent and sustained basis."

The Fan Advisory Board will soon be welcoming applications before a scheduled first meeting in February 2024, with further details to follow at nufc.co.uk on Friday, 24th November.

It forms part of the club's inaugural Fan Engagement Plan, which was officially launched in August 2023. For more information, please visit nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/newcastle-united-launches-202324-fan-engagement-plan.
