Magpies drawn at home to Hatters
Written by Dan King
Newcastle United have been drawn at home to Luton Town in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup.
The draw was made on Monday evening and, after former England boss Glenn Hoddle pulled out ball number 28 to hand the Magpies a home tie, ex-United midfielder Jermaine Jenas selected Luton.
Currently top of League Two, the Hatters beat Gateshead 5-0 in the second round at the weekend. Among Nathan Jones' squad are Olly and Elliot Lee, whose father, Rob, served Newcastle so well in the 1990s.
The two sides have met on four previous occasions in the competition, all at the fourth round stage. In 1972/73, the Hatters won 2-0 at St. James' Park but in 1980/81, the Magpies recorded a 2-1 victory.
Then in 1993/94, the teams drew 1-1 on Tyneside before Luton knocked Kevin Keegan's side out with a 2-0 win at Kenilworth Road.
The latest tie will be played at St. James' Park on the weekend of Saturday, 6th January 2018 and ticket news will be announced on nufc.co.uk in due course.
