Magpies confirm Verona friendly

Written by Tom Easterby

Newcastle United will round off their preparations for the 2017/18 Premier League season with a home friendly against Hellas Verona.

The Italian side, who won promotion from Serie B last season, will take on Rafa Benitez’s side at St. James’ Park on Sunday, 6th August, with the game set for a 3pm kick-off (BST).

Verona are managed by former United coach Fabio Pecchia, who left the Magpies just over a year ago to take up his first managerial post with the Gialloblu.

It will be the sixth and final pre-season fixture for Newcastle, who begin their Premier League campaign at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, 12th August.

Ticket details will be announced in due course.
