Magpies confirm squad numbers for 2021/22 campaign

New signing Joe Willock keeps the number 28 shirt he wore during his highly successful loan spell last term. The England under-21 international joined Steve Bruce's side on a permanent deal on Friday.

Callum Wilson will wear the club's famous number nine shirt, with Joelinton taking the number seven. Jamal Lewis, who wore 15 in his first season at St. James' Park, has now taken 12 - his old number at Norwich City - and Dwight Gayle will wear the number 34.

Freddie Woodman - who could make his Premier League debut in goal against West Ham on Sunday - will wear the number 27, having spent the last two seasons on loan with Swansea City.

Elliot Anderson, who wore the number 57 when he made two first team appearances last season, has now taken 32 while fellow teenager Joe White, who has featured regularly in pre-season for the Magpies, has been given 56. 

Goalkeeper Dan Langley, number 41 last season, is now 33.
