Madley in the middle for Burnley clash

Andy Madley will be the referee for Newcastle United's Premier League visit of Burnley on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm GMT).

The Huddersfield-born official, who was promoted to the Select Group 1 of Referees in June 2019, will take charge of his first Premier League game involving the Magpies after overseeing four of United's fixtures during their 2016/17 campaign.

The 36-year-old's last fixture involving Newcastle came back in April 2017 as United defeated Preston North End 4-1 at St. James' Park. Madley also sent off Preston's Paul Gallagher as the Magpies secured promotion to the English top-flight.

So far this season, Madley has officiated 19 games across the Premier League, Championship, League One and FA Cup, showing 65 yellow cards and six reds.

On Saturday, Madley - the older brother of former Select Group referee Bobby - will be assisted by Simon Beck and Adrian Holmes, while Stephen Martin will be the fourth official.

Jarred Gillett will be the VAR and will be assisted by Stephen Child.
