Loan watch: Two on target

Written by Dan King

Sean Longstaff and Ivan Toney were both on target for their respective loan sides at the weekend.

Longstaff got his second goal in two games for Blackpool in a 3-3 draw against Doncaster on Saturday.

And it was a stunning strike from the 19-year-old midfielder, who unleashed a powerful strike from 25 yards in the 38th minute. He played the whole game.

Toney's effort wasn't nearly as spectacular, as he stabbed home from close range in the eighth minute of Wigan's 2-0 win over Oldham.

But it was his first goal for the Latics and maintained their excellent start to the season. Toney was replaced by Will Grigg in the 71st minute.

Elsewhere in League One, Alex Gilliead was an unused substitute for Bradford as they lost at home to Blackburn while Tom Heardman wasn't part of the Bury squad as the Shakers lost to Bristol Rovers.

In the Championship, Adam Armstrong started for Bolton Wanderers against Derby but was withdrawn at half time with his side 2-0 down. They pulled one back through Gary Madine late on.

Meanwhile, Matz Sels was in goal for Anderlecht was they lost 3-2 against Sint-Truiden on Sunday.
