Loan watch: Toney scores as Scunthorpe secure play-off place
Written by Dan King
Ivan Toney scored again for Scunthorpe as the Iron secured their place in the League One play-offs on Tuesday night.
In front of the Sky Sports cameras, Scunthorpe beat fellow promotion hopefuls Plymouth Argyle 2-0 at Glandford Park.
And 22-year-old Toney scored the second goal of the night on the hour mark with a clever backheeled flick.
It was his eighth goal in his last 13 games, and he now has 14 for the season after netting six times for Wigan in the first half of the campaign.
Meanwhile in the same division, Alex Gilliead started for Bradford City against Walsall. He was replaced after 55 minutes of a 1-1 draw.
