Loan watch: Sels saves from the spot

On-loan goalkeeper Matz Sels was back in the Anderlecht side on Wednesday night, saving a penalty and keeping a clean sheet in their 2-0 win over Zulte-Waregem.
The 25-year-old began the season as the Belgian side’s first choice between the sticks, playing in the Belgian First Division A and the Champions League for Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s men, but he hadn’t featured in any of their past four league games until this week.
But he returned on Wednesday, diving to his right to keep out Onur Kaya’s 68th-minute spot-kick and keep the score at 0-0.
And goals from Pieter Gerkens and Hamdi Harbaoui after Sels’ stop meant the hosts took all three points at the Constant Vanden Stock, with the Magpies man recording his fourth shut-out of the season.
Meanwhile, young defender Stuart Findlay helped Kilmarnock to a 1-1 draw at Rangers in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday.
It turned into a dramatic night at Ibrox, after Jason Holt had given the Glasgow giants a half time lead.
And Kirk Broadfoot’s challenge on Eduardo Herrera – which led to Holt receiving a second yellow card for his part in an altercation – gave the hosts the chance to make it two in added time at the end of the second period, but Daniel Candeias saw his spot-kick saved by Jamie Macdonald.
They were made to pay when seconds later, Chris Burke slotted home a last-gasp leveller to hand Findlay and his side a share of the spoils.
The 22-year-old former Celtic man played the full 90 minutes, picking up a yellow card in the process.
On Tuesday night, Callum Williams helped Gateshead keep a clean sheet as they recorded a 2-0 win at Leyton Orient on Tuesday night.
A brace from Jordan Burrows got former United defender Steve Watson off to a fine start in his first game in charge of the Heed, while full back Williams played the full game at the Matchroom Stadium.
And Achraf Lazaar got 90 minutes under his belt in Serie A, coming back into the Benevento side for their trip to Cagliari, but it ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Moroccan’s side.
