Loan watch: Sean scores again

Written by Tom Easterby

Sean Longstaff extended his scoring streak to four in four games as Blackpool saw off AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

Longstaff, 19, has been in red-hot form for the Seasiders since joining them on a season-long loan deal in the summer, and notched again against the Dons, showing neat control before finding the target with a well-placed low shot.

That 52nd-minute strike at Bloomfield Road proved to be the winner, with Gary Bowyer’s men now occupying seventh place in League One.

It was a successful afternoon for Alex Gilliead, too, as his Bradford City beat Bristol Rovers 3-1 at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

Charlie Wyke’s hat-trick helped the Bantams to victory, with winger Gilliead playing the full 90 minutes.

And in the National League, full back Callum Williams also played the full 90 but couldn’t prevent Gateshead from slipping to a 3-1 defeat at Dagenham and Redbridge at the weekend.

The rest of the players on loan away from St. James’ Park weren’t in action this weekend, due to the international break.
