Loan watch: Mitro helps Cottagers reach Premier League

Written by Dan King

Aleksandar Mitrovic helped Fulham reach the Premier League as they beat Aston Villa in the Sky Bet Championship final at Wembley on Saturday.

The Serbian striker played the full 90 minutes as the Cottagers won 1-0 thanks to Tom Cairney's 23rd-minute goal.

And despite going down to ten men when Denis Odoi was shown a second yellow card in the 70th minute, Fulham held on to secure promotion to the top flight.

Mitrovic joined the Craven Cottage side on loan in January and scored 12 goals in 15 league starts. Saturday was the final game of his loan spell.

And he will now prepare for this summer's World Cup with Serbia, having enjoyed a prolific qualifying campaign to help his side reach the tournament in Russia.
