Loan watch: Magpies pair go head-to-head

Written by Dan King

Two of Newcastle United's loan players came face-to-face on opposing sides on Tuesday night.

Dwight Gayle made his West Bromwich Albion debut from the bench against Nottingham Forest - who included Jack Colback in midfield.

Gayle had only joined the Baggies on Monday, as part of the loan deal which saw Salomón Rondón move to St. James' Park.

But with his new side trailing 1-0 and struggling to create chances, he was introduced for James Morrison in the 61st minute and wasted no time in making an impact.

First he hit a post, moments before Matt Phillips equalised for Albion, then he struck the bar in the closing seconds.

Colback played the full game and was booked as the match finished 1-1.
