Loan Watch: Hendrick stunner earns Royals point

A look at how United's loan players got on at the weekend, featuring a magnificent goal and a senior debut...

Jeff Hendrick

Reading earned a comeback point at home to Watford on Saturday, despite having been 2-0 down with just under half of the contest remaining.

Ismaila Sarr and Ryan Porteous had given the Hornets the advantage in the Championship clash, but Tom Ince's penalty reduced the deficit before, ten minutes from time, Hendrick thumped home a volley to earn the Royals a point.

It was a stunning strike, hit first time as a high, hanging corner found its way to him at the back post - a potential goal of the season contender to notch his fourth of 2022/23 so far.

Garang Kuol

Australia forward Kuol started on the bench for Hearts in their Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee United, but entered the fray with just over 20 minutes remaining in what was a frantic contest.

The visitors led 1-0 at Tynecastle and had been reduced to ten men by the time Kuol came on, but goals from Harry Cochrane and Lawrence Shankland turned the game on its head before Josh Ginnelly's dismissal for the hosts evened the numbers.

Stephen Humphrys' sensational late effort from inside his own half made sure of the win for Hearts, with Kuol picking up a yellow card during his cameo.

Niall Brookwell

Young defender Brookwell joined National League North promotion hopefuls Darlington on loan last week, and he was straight into the action for a senior bow as a 86th-minute substitute in their clash with Telford United.

With the Quakers leading 2-1 thanks to a brace from Jacob Hazel, Brookwell came on in place on Kaine Felix as Alun Armstrong's side looked to see out the win.

And it got even better for them in the dying moments, as Hazel completed his hat-trick to make it three one and keep the hosts just a point behind AFC Fylde at the top of the table.

Dan Langley

Goalkeeper Langley had a fine afternoon as Spennymoor Town earned a 2-1 away win at Chester on Saturday, with Paul Blackett and Glen Taylor grabbing the goals.

Langley made a string of excellent stops in the first half in particular to help Jason Ainsley's men to victory.

Lucas De Bolle and Dylan Stephenson

In the Scottish Championship, midfielder De Bolle played the full game and forward Stephenson played the opening hour as Hamilton were held to a 1-1 draw by Dundee.

Joe White

White played all but the final ten minutes for Exeter City in their 2-1 home defeat to Charlton Athletic in League One at the weekend.

Chris Wood

Wood's Nottingham Forest earned a vital victory over Leeds United at the City Ground on Sunday, boosting their Premier League survival hopes in the process.

The New Zealand forward played the first 73 minutes before being replaced by Sam Surridge.

Karl Darlow

Experienced stopper Darlow moved to Championship outfit Hull City on transfer deadline day, and was named on the bench for their clash with Cardiff City on Saturday.

He didn't make it on for a debut, however, as the Tigers eked out a 1-0 victory over the Bluebirds.
