Loan watch: Gayle returns with a goal

Written by Dan King

Dwight Gayle was back in action - and back on the scoresheet - for West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

The forward made his first appearance since picking up a hamstring injury on Boxing Day as the Baggies entertained fellow promotion-chasers Norwich, and beat Tim Krul in the 12th minute.

It was his 14th goal of the season, but Jordan Rhodes' late equaliser meant the spoils were shared at the Hawthorns. Gayle came off with five minutes to go.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Jack Colback played 90 minutes and was booked as Nottingham Forest lost 2-0 to Reading.

Meanwhile in League One, Liam Gibson made his Football League debut as he started for Accrington in their home game against Bristol Rovers.

The full-back was substituted in the 86th minute after a solid display in a 0-0 draw. Daniel Barlaser, who recently extended his loan spell with Stanley until the end of the season, played the full match.

There was no game for Henri Saivet and Bursaspor, with the Turkish SuperLig now on a mid-season break.
