Loan watch: Gayle grabs 16th of the season

Dwight Gayle scored his 16th goal of the season as West Bromwich Albion won 1-0 at Stoke City on Saturday.

The 28-year-old headed home the only goal of the game in the 25th minute and was replaced by defender Kyle Bartley in the 89th minute as the Baggies held on to their advantage.

Jacob Murphy was handed his full debut for Albion and played for the first 74 minutes before making way for Jefferson Montero.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Rolando Aarons appeared as a 65th-minute substitute for Sheffield Wednesday as they drew 0-0 with Reading. Achraf Lazaar was an unused substitute.

Jack Colback missed Nottingham Forest's 2-1 win against Brentford due to suspension - he has ten yellow cards in the league this term - but Daniel Barlaser played the full game as Accrington Stanley lost 2-0 to Scunthorpe United in League One. Liam Gibson was an unused substitute.

Elias Sørensen watched from the bench as Blackpool beat Walsall 2-0 while, in League Two, Cal Roberts and Jamie Sterry were unused substitutes for Colchester and Crewe respectively.

In the National League, Josef Yarney helped Chesterfield to keep a clean sheet on his debut for the Spireites as they beat FC Halifax Town. The Newcastle defender played the full match.

Finally, Henri Saivet started for Bursaspor as they took in Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig, but was replaced after 54 minutes as his side lost 2-0.
