Elias Sørensen watched from the bench as Blackpool beat Walsall 2-0 while, in League Two, Cal Roberts and Jamie Sterry were unused substitutes for Colchester and Crewe respectively.
In the National League, Josef Yarney helped Chesterfield to keep a clean sheet on his debut for the Spireites as they beat FC Halifax Town. The Newcastle defender played the full match.
Finally, Henri Saivet started for Bursaspor as they took in Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig, but was replaced after 54 minutes as his side lost 2-0.
