Loan watch: Barlaser nets winner on poignant afternoon

Dan Barlaser struck the winning goal as Accrington Stanley progressed to the Second Round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 victory over Colchester United.
Barlaser found the net with a deflected effort just after the half-hour mark, and dedicated the strike to his late grandfather, who passed away earlier in the week.
Having made his debut for Stanley in the Checkatrade Trophy four days prior, Barlaser’s fellow Magpie, Luke Charman, started for John Coleman’s side in the same game.
Also on target on Saturday was Dwight Gayle, who scored less than five minutes after coming on as West Bromwich Albion recorded an eye-catching 4-1 win over Leeds United in the Championship.
In the same division, Jack Colback started and finished Nottingham Forest’s 0-0 draw with Stoke City at the City Ground, a result which allowed the Baggies to leapfrog Aitor Karanka’s side in the table.
There was also a stalemate between Morecambe and FC Halifax Town in the FA Cup, with Josef Yarney remaining an unused substitute for the Shrimps.
Further afield, Slovan Liberec continued their recent improvement with a 1-0 win over Slovácko, with Rolando Aarons taken off five minutes from time.
And, in Turkey, Bursaspor’s four-game unbeaten stretch was brought to an end by high-flying Kasımpaşa, with Henri Saivet entering the fray as a second-half substitute.
