Loan watch: Aarons features in derby draw
Written by Dan King
Rolando Aarons came close to inspiring Sheffield Wednesday to a Steel City derby victory on Monday night.
The winger made his third start for the Owls following his January loan switch to Hillsborough against Sheffield United in the televised clash.
Playing the full game in front of a crowd of 31,630, he had already forced Blades goalkeeper Dean Henderson to tip away a dangerous cross before, in the 65th minute, the Newcastle man set up Sam Hutchinson for a great opportunity only for Henderson to make a fine save.
"That little bit of quality was the only bit we showed," manager Steve Bruce told BBC Radio Sheffield. "Rolando got free and put a wonderful cross in. It was the best opportunity of the game. They were few and far between."
Wednesday, who climbed a place to 13th in the Championship, are unbeaten in seven league matches since Bruce took charge at the start of February.
Achraf Lazaar missed the game through injury.
