Lejeune undergoes successful operation

Written by Dan King

Newcastle United can confirm Florian Lejeune has undergone successful knee surgery to repair a tear of his anterior cruciate ligament, which he sustained during training recently.

The club are not putting a timescale on his return to action at the moment.

Manager Rafa BenĂtez told nufc.co.uk: "I was speaking with Florian before and after his operation.

"The doctor says it has gone well and he seems to be in good spirits.

"I join everybody at the club in wishing him a speedy recovery."
