Komazawa Uni FC 0 Newcastle U17s 2

Written by Dan King

United's under-17s made it two wins and 11 goals in two days at the SuperCupNI on Wednesday evening.

Dave Watson's young Magpies had defeated Beijing Morning Star United 9-0 on Tuesday, and ran out 2-0 victors against Japanese side Komazawa Uni FC at Scroggy Road in Limavady.

And that was enough to take them through to the semi-finals of the main competition, where they will face Ghana's Right To Dream on Thursday.

United took the lead early on as defender Oisin McEntee headed home from Adam Wilson's corner.

And they had the chance to make it 2-0 shortly before half time, when Deese Kasinga Madia was fouled in the box but saw his penalty saved.

But Newcastle were awarded another spot-kick in the 66th minute and this time captain Matthew Longstaff made no mistake from 12 yards.

Newcastle United Under-17s: Otto Huuhtanen, Lewis Cass, Oliver Walters, Matthew Longstaff, Oisin McEntee, Jack Young, Kieren Aplin (Ryan Barrett 63), Adam Wilson, Max Allen, Deese Kasinga Madia, Kyle Soper

Subs not used: Josh Skivington, Jack Robson, Thomas Cole, Will Brown, Sam Joyce, Jude Swails
