Jones to referee Saturday's Hammers clash

Rob Jones will referee Newcastle United's Premier League game at home to West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday 30th March
Newcastle United vs West Ham United
St. James' Park
Kick-off 12:30pm GMT

It will be the fourth game involving the Magpies that the 36-year-old has overseen this term. Jones also took charge of the 1-0 Premier League defeat at Manchester City in August, when he booked five United players, and their 3-0 Carabao Cup victory at Manchester United in November, when Joelinton and Joe Willock both went in the book alongside four of the hosts' line-up at Old Trafford.

He then was in the middle when United beat the Red Devils in the league a month later, with Joelinton again receiving a caution, while Jones - who has been a top flight official since midway through the 2019/20 season - has also stepped up to referee continental fixtures, overseeing games in the Europa Conference League and international friendlies.

Jones has issued four red cards in his 28 outings so far this term - compared to just one across both the 2022/23 and 2021/22 seasons. In 2022/23, he took charge of three games involving Newcastle - and Eddie Howe's side won them all.
