It's Miller time as pre-season trip to Rotherham announced

Newcastle United will travel to Rotherham United for a pre-season friendly next month.

The Magpies will make the trip to the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Tuesday, 27th July for a 7pm (BST) kick-off. It will be Newcastle's second ever visit to the 12,021-capacity venue with the first coming in the Sky Bet Championship in October 2016, when Christian Atsu's goal gave United three points.

The teams have played each other 17 times in competitive matches, with Newcastle winning ten of those fixtures and five ending in draws.

Rotherham were relegated from the Championship last season and manager Paul Warne will be looking to take them back up at the first attempt. Former Magpies midfielder Dan Barlaser made 34 appearances for them last term, having joined from Newcastle last October following a successful loan spell in 2019/20 when he helped the Millers to gain promotion from League One.

Newcastle have already announced that they will split the first team squad for two games in one day, at York City and Harrogate Town, on Sunday, 18th July while they will face Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium on the evening of Friday, 30th July.

Ticketing information for all of the friendlies - along with details of further pre-season matches - will be confirmed on nufc.co.uk in due course.
