Isaac Hayden named PFA Community Champion

The award was presented to the Magpies midfielder at the Newcastle United Training Centre by two participants involved in the Foundation’s Employability programmes, Aziz Koddo and Danwen Huang.

Aziz is from Kenton and is working with Foundation coaches as part of the Premier League Works scheme. The 19-year-old is hoping to develop his skills, obtain qualifications and secure work experience.

Danwen, 21, is from Heaton and is participating in the Prince’s Trust TEAM programme, which is delivered by the Foundation.

Isaac Hayden inspired local youngsters during a girls-only training session

Isaac was nominated by the Foundation on the basis of his support of the Women and Girls Pathway, visiting a girls-only training session as part of the Foundation’s Community feature on Match of the Day.

The Foundation also took into account how Isaac helped raised local and national awareness around the brilliant work taking place at the NUFC Fans’ Foodbank on matchdays.

Isaac personally visited the Newcastle West End Foodbank, helping to make up packs for distribution to vulnerable local families. 

"I'm really pleased to have had the opportunity to support the incredible work Newcastle United Foundation does," said Isaac.

"The Foundation delivers so many brilliant programmes across the region, engaging with tens of thousands of children, young people and families and it's great to see the difference it makes to so many lives.

"I experienced first-hand just how talented and passionate the young female footballers are that they have on their pathway and how important the introduction of a Women and Girls Football Hub will be.

Isaac took time out to lend a hand at the city's West End Foodbank

"I was privileged to visit Newcastle Foodbank and see the amazing work that goes on there," he added.

"All over the city, we have football fans having a hugely positive impact on our society - making a real difference. It makes me very proud."

"The girls on our player pathway absolutely loved having Isaac attend their session and it was brilliant to share with him our vision for women and girls football."

"The Award will hopefully raise awareness of the great contribution and importance many of our members attach to their roles off the pitch.
