Ireland Call-Up For Ciaran

Written by Tom Easterby

Ciaran Clark has been named in the provisional Republic of Ireland squad for their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Austria later this month.

Martin O'Neill's men head to the Ernst-Happel-Stadion for the Group D clash, which is set for a 5pm kick-off on Saturday, 12th November.

And 27-year-old Clark has been included in O'Neill's initial 35-man squad for the fixture, in which Eire will be looking to consolidate their place at the top of the table, alongside Aleksandar Mitrovic's Serbia.

Former Aston Villa defender Clark could win his 23rd cap if he plays against Austria, though fellow Magpies Daryl Murphy and Rob Elliot will miss out as they continue their recovery from injury.
