In-form Trippier - who was nominated for the Premier League's EA Sports Player of the Month award for September - was introduced in the second half of the friendly clash against the Socceroos and was handed the captain's armband after replacing Three Lions skipper Jordan Henderson.
Ollie Watkins' 57th minute winner proved the difference in London ahead of focus switching to the Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy at Wembley Stadium - a repeat of the 2020 final.

The Magpies man started at left-back and played the whole game at the national stadium as Gareth Southgate's side secured their place at the summer's European Championships.
England knew that a point would be enough to ensure qualification, but fell behind to former West Ham man Gianluca Scamacca's 15th minute goal.
However, Harry Kane equalised from the spot in the first half before Marcus Rashford scored in the second - then Kane got his second in the 77th minute to complete the Italian job and guarantee England's participation in Germany next year.

Schär, who capped off the Magpies' sensational 4-1 Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain with a sensational curling strike, played the full 90 minutes of Switzerland's six-goal thriller against Belarus as late strikes from fellow centre-back Manuel Akanji and Zeki Amdouni salvaged a point for the hosts.

Midfielder Guimarães won his 15th cap for the Seleção in their 2026 World Cup qualifier, starting the contest against a Venezuela side including former Magpies striker Salomón Rondón.
Arsenal defender Gabriel opened the scoring five minutes after the restart but, after Guimarães was substituted in the 79th minute, Eduard Bello's late leveller denied the five-time World champions a 100 per cent winning start in the ten-team group.

Brazil were beaten 2-0 as Uruguay scored a goal in each half. Guimarães, who signed a new contract with the Magpies earlier this month, started but was replaced by Raphael Veiga in the 84th minute.

Paraguay suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against the three-time World champions in their respective 2026 World Cup qualifier, with Nicolas Otamendi's early goal proving the difference in Buenos Aires, with Almirón replaced in the 86th minute.

Almirón played the full game as Paraguay recorded an important victory. Antonio Sanabria scored the only goal of the game in the 69th minute.
It gave Paraguay their first victory of the qualification campaign at the fourth attempt. In winning his 39th international cap as a Newcastle player - and his 53rd overall - Almirón is now fifth in the club's most-capped players list.

The Young Lions were in rampant goalscoring form against their Serbia counterparts, with Livramento introduced in the 52nd minute of their 2025 European Under-21 Championship qualifier in Nottingham.
Lee Carsley's side fell behind at the City Ground before braces from Jaden Philogene, Harvey Elliot and Noni Madueke, as well as strikes from Liam Delap and Jonathan Rowe, contributed towards an impressive result for the defending champions, playing their first game since winning the competition last summer.

Livramento started at right-back and played for the opening 73 minutes but the Young Lions were beaten despite coming back from two goals behind.
Noni Madueke and Charlie Cresswell had dragged England back into the game but Illya Kvasnytsya scored a winner for the home side with seconds remaining.

The Scottish pair both started the contest, with McArthur named captain once again as the Kilmarnock-born centre-back played the full 90 minutes whilst Emerson was replaced in the 72nd minute.

The highly-rated teenagers were all involved in the Young Lions' four-goal draw against their Norway counterparts in Burton upon Trent as Sanusi, who joined the Magpies from Birmingham City last summer, was handed his full debut at under-17 level.
Leo Shahar, who arrived at St. James' Park from Wolverhampton Wanderers last month, was introduced in the 71st minute of the contest before 16-year-old striker Sean Neave entered the field of play 11 minutes later, making his international bow at under-17 level.

The Slovakian goalkeeper gained his 38th international cap at senior level but the Falcons were narrowly beaten at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto, with Cristiano Ronaldo netting twice for the Euro 2016 champions.

Dúbravka kept a clean sheet and was selected as his country's man of the match as Slovakia strengthened their grip on second place in Group J.

Hall played the full game in Milton Keynes as England suffered a late loss.
Portugal took the lead inside the opening ten minutes through Youssef Chermit, but the Young Lions levelled though Emran Soglo.
However in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Miguel Fale's header won it for Portugal.
The Swedish frontman, who has netted seven goals in all competitions for the Magpies so far this season, was named in his country's squad for their friendly with Moldova and Euro 2024 qualifier with Belgium but was forced to withdraw on Monday through injury.
The midfielder had been named in Italy's squad for Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and England before the Italian Football Federation announced that he had left the Federal Technical Center in Coverciano to return to Newcastle.
