International Magpies: Gordon picks up second cap

A number of Newcastle United players are set to represent their countries during March's break from domestic action. Here's our guide to how they've been doing in different colours this month...

Anthony Gordon

Tuesday 26th March
England 2 Belgium 2
Wembley Stadium

Gordon made a late substitute appearance in the eventual 2-2 draw at Wembley, stepping off the bench in the final ten minutes to pick up his second cap.

Saturday 23rd March
England 0
Brazil 1
Wembley Stadium

Gordon's fine form for the Magpies earned him a first call-up to the senior England squad for their friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, and he made his debut against the Seleção at Wembley, starting for Gareth Southgate's side and turning in a fine display on the left flank.

He was replaced by Marcus Rashford with 15 minutes remaining of the 1-0 defeat under the arch.

Bruno Guimarães

Tuesday 26th March
Spain 2 Brazil 2
Santiago Bernabéu
Kick-off 8:30pm GMT

A 45-minute run out for the United star at the Bernabéu, with the midfielder picking up a yellow card in the process.

Saturday 23rd March
England 0 Brazil 1
Wembley Stadium

Guimarães lined up against his club teammate Gordon at Wembley, starting for Brazil as they emerged victorious thanks to Endrick's winner. Like Gordon, the Magpies man impressed, and was withdrawn with just over ten minutes remaining as Douglas Luiz was introduced.

Garang Kuol

Tuesday 26th March
Australia Under-23s 2 South Korea Under-23s 2
Prince Saud Bin Jalawi Stadium

Kuol's side were beaten on penalties in the West Asian Football Federation Under-23 Championships final, and the Newcastle youngster - who had earlier come off the bench - missed the final spot-kick.

Saturday 23rd March
Australia Under-23s 1 Egypt Under-23s 1
Prince Saud Bin Jalawi Stadium

Kuol started for the Olyroos and got himself on the scoresheet too, netting from the spot after being brought down by the goalkeeper with quarter of an hour on the clock. The game finished 1-1, setting up a final for Kuol and his side against South Korea.

Thursday 21st March
Australia Under-23s 2 Iraq Under-23s 1
Prince Saud Bin Jalawi Stadium

Kuol, who is currently out on loan at FC Volendam in the Dutch Eredivisie, came off the bench for Australia's Olyroos side - their under-23 team - in their opener against Iraq in Saudi Arabia. He was introduced with 13 minutes remaining.

Fabian Schär

Switzerland prevailed in Dublin, with the Newcastle stopper starting and playing all but the final ten minutes of this friendly encounter.

The centre back is a staple of the Switzerland squad, and was handed a 90-minute run-out in their goalless draw in Denmark at the weekend.

Dúbravka wasn't part of the Slovakia matchday squad for their draw in Oslo.

The United teenagers, who have been regulars for Newcastle's under-21 side this term, were both in the squad for the first of England's three qualifiers this month.

Shahar started at wing back and provided a fine assist for Baylee Dipepa's first of two strikes after the break as the hosts wrapped up an emphatic win. He played the full 90 minutes, while Sanusi was an unused substitute.

Charlie McArthur and Johnny Emerson
