International Magpies: Harrison helps England win Mondial Montagiu Tournament
A number of Newcastle United players represented their countries during - and after - the break from domestic action...

Ollie Harrison
The Toon teenager represented England's under-16s at the 50th Mondial Montagiu Tournament in France - a competition in which the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry and Kylian Mbappé played as youngsters - and helped the Young Lions to win the trophy.

On Sunday, the midfielder made his international debut, playing the full game in a 2-0 win against New Caledonia in La Roche-sur-Yon.

The Young Lions roared back to come from two goals down against Central African Republic in Chantonnay on Tuesday, with Harrison an unused substitute.

Harrison was back in the starting XI for the final group game on Thursday as the Young Lions made it three wins out of three in La Roche-Sur-Yon. He came off late on.

The Newcastle youngster scored from the spot in a semi-final shoot-out success in Montaigu, slotting home the seventh successful penalty kick for Greg Lincoln's side after coming off the bench early in the second half.

Harrison played the full game in central midfield as the Young Lions met Japan in the final on Monday. After a 0-0 draw, the match went straight to penalties and England triumphed to lift the trophy for a seventh time.

After a lengthy absence through injury, frontman Isak was back in the Sweden squad for their first EURO 2024 qualifiers against Belgium and Azerbaijan.

The 23-year-old was named on the back of his promising recent form for United and started against Belgium in Stockholm on Friday, before being replaced by Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 73rd minute.

He then played the opening 71 minutes of his country's 5-0 thumping of Azerbaijan on Monday night and set up Sweden's second goal which was converted, unintentionally, by the visitors' defender Bahlul Mustafazada.
Goalkeeper Dúbravka, who returned to St. James' Park in January following his loan spell at Manchester United, was part of the Slovakia squad for their EURO 2024 qualifiers with Luxembourg and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

...before recording his second consecutive shut-out as his country beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 on Sunday.
The 34-year-old, who has made one substitute appearance for the Magpies so far this term, now has 34 caps for his country.
Goalkeeper Pope and full back Trippier have been in fine form for United this term, and - along with Callum Wilson - were part of England's 2022 World Cup squad just four months ago.
The duo had been selected by Gareth Southgate for their EURO 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine this month but Pope withdrew from the Three Lions' squad due to injury.

Trippier, however, helped his country kick off their qualifying campaign with a win over Italy in Naples on Thursday night. England were leading 2-1 when Luke Shaw was sent off ten minutes from time for a second bookable offence, and Trippier replaced Phil Foden in the 81st minute as Southgate's men saw the game out.

He was then an unused substitute as England beat Ukraine 2-0 on Sunday.

The Magpies forward, who is currently on loan at Scottish Premiership side Hearts, was part of Australia's squad for their 'Welcome Home' series of fixtures against Ecuador in Sydney and Melbourne.
The teenager was one of 20 players included in the squad by Graham Arnold who represented the Socceroos at the 2022 World Cup, with the two friendlies marking their first return to the country since that tournament.

The 18-year-old scored his first goal on his fourth cap on Friday, as Australia beat Ecuador 3-1. He came off the bench in the 78th minute and six minutes later, got on the end of Aziz Behich's cross to seal the victory for the Socceroos.

Kuol made a 21-minute cameo appearance off the bench as his side were beaten in Melbourne by the same opponents they'd defeated just five days previously.
Uncapped defender Botman had received a call-up to the Netherlands side ahead of their EURO 2024 qualifiers against France and Gibraltar.
The 23-year-old, however, was forced to withdraw from Holland's training camp on Thursday after suffering from a virus infection along with a number of international team-mates.

Lewis was named in the Northern Ireland squad for their opening round of EURO 2024 qualifiers.
Michael O'Neill's men faced San Marino and Finland this month, with left back Lewis - who has made three appearances for United this season - one of eight defenders included.

On Thursday night, Lewis started in his country's 2-0 win over San Marino, claiming the assist for the second goal with a left-wing cross for Bolton striker Dion Charles to head home. He was then replaced by Ferguson in the 74th minute.

On Sunday, Lewis played the full game as Northern Ireland hosted Finland at Windsor Park, but his side were beaten with Benjamin Källman scoring the only goal of the match.
On-loan Reading midfielder Hendrick is a regular for the Republic of Ireland side, with the 31-year-old sitting on 77 caps going into this month's fixtures.

Republic of Ireland warmed up for next week's Euro 2024 qualifier against France with a 3-2 friendly victory against Latvia.
Goals from Callum O'Dowda and Evan Ferguson, the Brighton & Hove Albion forward's first senior international goal, gave Stephen Kenny's side a two-goal advantage before strikes from Roberts Uldrikis and Artūrs Zjuzins drew the visitors level in Dublin.
Chiedozie Ogbene regained the lead for the Boys in Green shortly after the hour mark before Hendrick was introduced from the substitutes' bench in the latter stages, replacing Stoke City loanee Will Smallbone.

Hendrick was then an unused substitute at the Aviva Stadium as Kenny's men were narrowly beaten by France after Benjamin Pavard's screamer.

England Under-17s got their 2023 European Under-17 Championship Elite Round qualifying campaign off to a flying start with a 3-1 win against their Denmark counterparts, with 16-year-old midfielder Miley playing the full 90 minutes.
Ethan Nwaneri's first-half brace gave the Young Lions a commanding lead before Justin Oboavwoduo extended the advantage further for Ryan Garry's side, with Amin Chiakha's strike proving a mere consolation.

England's youngsters then beat their Northern Ireland counterparts 2-0, with Miley again playing the full game ahead of their final match against the Netherlands. The Young Lions will gain automatic qualification into the competition's finals should they seal top spot in Group 3.
The seven best runners-up from the eight groups, consisting of four countries, will also seal their spot in the finals, which will be held in Hungary.

Miley remained on the bench throughout as his side were narrowly beaten by the Netherlands.

Teenage defender Murphy, who joined the Magpies from hometown club Galway United last summer, was called up to Republic of Ireland's Under-19s side ahead of three Under-19 European Championship qualifiers.

Another 90-minute outing for the United youngster, but this one ended in defeat to Greece, with Murphy lining up in midfield.
Johnny Emerson
Emerson, who primarily plays on the left wing, was called up for Scotland's Under-18 squad for two friendly fixtures against Wales.
The 17-year-old forward has been in impressive form at club level, netting eight goals in 13 Under-18 Premier League matches for the Toon teenagers so far this season and has scored five times in his last five league matches.
